News Homepage > March, 2007 MINISTRY TO KAYAYOSRecently, we visited Kumasi, a large metropolitan city in the southern part of Ghana. A picture is shown of the Kayayos (translated meaning: load carrying women) who for various reasons leave their villages and run away to the inner cities to live in the streets and do all kinds of work to earn money. After talking with the young girls, they told us that their hope is to earn enough money to buy sewing machines and become seamstresses or learn some other skill to support themselves. Some of the women have babies that they also have to take care of while on the streets.
MEDICAL MINISTRYKathy Leslie and Brian van Gundy are in the village of Moglaa treating the sick babies during a medical missions outreach January 2007. Dr. Zack Stearns is seen in the background administering medical help.
Kathy and Dr. Zack have been coming to Ghana for the past three years and their compassionate care has been very instrumental in opening the door to present the gospel to people who would otherwise never hear of Jesus and His saving grace.
Each time that Dr. Zack Sterns come to Ghana it is a special treat for the children in the villages. The children do not have access to television and for them to see their faces for the first time on the camera is such a treat. NYOHINI ORPHANAGEThe Lord has put it on our heart to partner with a orphanage located in the village of Nyohini. Alabaster Project Ministries recently donated medication for the infants and children.
Below is a picture of the babies at the orphanage at Nyohini village.
FISH HARVESTWe have harvested the fish from the Ying Fish Farm. It is amazing what God can do. We were able to harvestfish after one of the worst drought in the history of the northern region. We are looking forward to restocking the fish pond and see what will happen during a normal year.
