EYE SURGERIES

A few years ago, Dr. Francisco Diazgranados and his wife, Dr. Angie Goday Diazgranados visited Tamale to see what God is doing in the Northern Region of Ghana. After seeing the dental and ophthalmological needs of the people both resigned from their respective jobs to pursue their call to missions from God.

Alabaster Project

They in turn met Dr. Javier Castillo and Dr. Daisy Jaurez in Mexico. Dr. Castillo and Dr. Jaurez both have a passion for helping the needs of people with their medical talents. These three doctors linked with Dr. Lissette Martinez, a dentist, and came to Tamale last month. Shown above from left to right are Francisco, Daisy and Javier performing surgery.

Lissette, Daisy and Francisco

Dr. Martinez spent many hours training our dental staff in hygiene and patient care. May the Lord bless these doctors and prosper their way as they follow the leading of the Lord.

Alabaster Project

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude of the people who have received their sight back. More than four hundred patients were examined, and surgeries were performed on many cataracts and pterygia patients. Above picture is Dr. Javier with some of the patients.

Alabaster Project

About 90% or more of the people who examined had glaucoma, and many have become blind as a result of the disease.

The doctors along with Alabaster Project, thank everyone who contributed through prayers and finances, to make this part of the eye care ministry possible. God bless you. May the Lord remember you for good.

BLISINGA MINISTRY CENTER

Alabaster Project

While praying in 2011, God impressed upon us to build a ministry center/medical building in the village of Blisinga. Blisinga is strategically located in close proximity to five unreached villages. The Family Church has visited Blisinga over the years and has also seen the need and agreed to help build a ministry center. May all those who visit this ministry center be blessed and healed so that all may believe in the One and only true Living God. Amen.

BLISINGA WATER PROJECT

During the months of March and April, two bore holes were drilled in Blisinga.

Alabaster Project

During the first borehole attempt, the entire village was present and watching with much joy and great expectations.

Alabaster Project

The above picture shows the drilling of the second bore hole. Like the first bore hole, the second one was also dry. Even though water covers about 70% of the earth, Northern Ghana has always faced acute shortage of portable water. The village of Blisinga located in Northern Ghana also faces this acute shortage of good drinking water year round.

Below is a picture of one of three dammed surface water shared by both the villagers and their livestock. The chief of the village challenged Jesus to bring them good drinking water. Again the Family Church has answered the challenge and has provided funds for the boreholes. The hope and excitement of the people was wonderful to see, however, the borehole was dry- no appreciable amount of water was found.

Alabaster Project

The desperate need for portable water will not allow us to give up. We will have several water storage structures built to help meet the water needs of some of the people.

NELS AND BONNIE KING

Alabaster Project

After five years of praying and planning, Nels and Bonnie King have arrived in Ghana. May the Lord bless them for the great faith they have in living out the call given to them over thirty-five years ago. After two weeks, it seems as though they have always been in Ghana with us. Please continue to pray for them as they adjust to Tamale. It is quite a change from Washington State to Sub-Saharan Africa. They are real troopers and they are very excited to be in Ghana.

DANIEL AND KELSEY

Daniel and Kelsey Meyer, representatives of Gifts for the Nations, visited Bethany Village. Daniel came expressly to work on the ford tractor that was donated to Alabaster Project several years ago. He is a gifted young man who has the ability to fix anything mechanical. He worked on the tractor and helped us with several other pieces of equipment.

Alabaster Project

Kelsey is a registered nurse who held training sessions pertaining to health and hygiene in several villages. Below Kelsey is shown treating wounds. She left first aid equipment in each village to continue with the work after she left.
