Building Community

Resource Center

Alabaster Project has a small staff headed by a national director residing here in Tamale. This staff is charged with running the resource center, over seeing the construction of the above-mentioned facilities, and organizing workshops and conferences.

Retreat Center
We are also establishing a retreat center with facilities such as a conference center, hostel and a medical facility. The organization has acquired a 6.5 acres plot of land located on Nyankpala Road at Nyerizee Village. Construction has begun to erect these facilities.

Athletics
Athletics are a great way to build a sense of pride and community, in our efforts we have visited 8 villages during a short-term mission trip to distribute soccer gear and equipment to local youths. PHOTOS >>

Dentistry & Healthcare

The population of the northern region of Ghana is about 2 million people with only one government employed dentist. Most of the people have never heard of or seen a dentist in their entire lives. Our organization is pushing to change this.

The Alabster Project has received training, supplies, and equipment to provide dentistry care at Bethany Village and the surrounding area.

The need in the area of healtcare and dentistry in these regions is extremely high. If you or someone you know would be interested in supplying time, expertise, or funding your help would truely be an extension of Gods Love.

Vocational - Commerce

Farming
The Ying Farm has been quite a learning experience. Farming with hoes and cutlass is totally different from farming with tractors and plows. We have experienced the favor of God during every activity. Currently, we are planning to raise animals in addition to crop farming. The Ying farm is part of the Vocational School program.

Vocational School - Coming Soon!
The school will provide training for village pastors and their wives. We have realized that the need to disciple and train the pastors with the hope of helping them become more financially independent.

Animal Husbandry - Coming Soon!

Discipleship

The plight of village pastors continues to be a deep concern of ours. These pastors are usually very poor. They pastor congregations ranging from 10-40 people. The congregations are made up of farmers. Often, the members of the churches do not tithe and there is little or no money to support the work of the church much less a pastor’s salary. Many of the church buildings are not maintained properly. Many pastors have left, leaving the members without a shepherd. The Alabaster Project provides help and assistance to these local pastors and feels that spreading a sense of discipleship among the people of the region is of utmost importance.

Peace Initiatives
Recent progress in Tamale promises a hope for the Dagbon region, so do we pray that the peace initiatives that God has started shall bring this lasting peace. As you may recall the king of the land in which we live was assassinated more than two years ago. This brought about a deep division among the Dagomba tribe. After a two year state of emergency and curfew the problem still has not been resolved. We are doing what we can to help bring about a better situation for everyone.PHOTOS >>
